cornell bernard tells us from san jose as the mayor is ready for the state of the city address. cornell? >> normally it is a word no one wants to hear but the mayor will make it a big part of the state of the city address. the word is "taxes." the mayor says the city needs a sales tax increase and will call on community leaders to organize a campaign to support police and fire services and restore pay for workers who had to take cuts to balance the budget. a poll suggests that voters could be willing to do that. there is 70 percent support if a quarter percent sales increase but 57 percent for half a percent increase. the earliest it would be on the battle is next year, the 5th sales tax measure voters have approved since the mayor took office in 2007. the state of the city address is underway at 6:30 right here at city hall. >> fairfield police are asking for your help in finding the killer of a 13-year-old girl. the guardian for the 13-year-old reported her missing last thursday evening. her body was found friday m

. abc7 news reporter joins us live from concord with what we are lending about the boy. katy? >> beverly the fact that he is 14, police are only confirming he attends a nearby school. but he could go to mount diabolo high school just down the street from the scene of the accident at grant street. the accident happened about 1:30 yesterday afternoon. we have this video and you can see the police working in the intersection where the boy was hit. yesterday was actually a school holiday so it is unclear why he was in the area of his school. we know he was in a crosswalk. the driver who hit him did stop and is cooperating with police and the investigation the boy suffered life-threatening internal injuries. he is in critical condition at last check. i talked with the police department and they could not give me an update and i reached out to oakland children's hospital where he was transferred after being taken to john muir hospital. i have not heard back from either on the boy's condition. this intersection, locals know, is dangerous. you can see when you look at it, it is clearly marked wi
in a small amount of time. most of us around .25 but it was a cold weather system that blew through here. what you're looking at here is that cold air that's sweeping in over the top of us. there's still a chance for snow flurries. snow levels reports down to some areas below 1,000 feet. so it was really cold. right now san jose you have some heavier rain down by blossom hill road. this is significant rainfall headed to the east capital expressway. some heavy rain, let's come in a little bit closer here. over by san felipe road you have heavier rain. these reds and yellows that's coming down pretty hard. santa rosa drive in this area, most of this action is starting to move off but you can see near brenam rain it's pretty big. this is a hot spot in the area because most of the rain has moved off. you can see a few light showers as well. when i come back we're going to be tracking more showers tonight. then we're going to track this very, very cold air. what does that mean for tomorrow morning's overnight lows? you're going to find out i'll have the details. >>> snow has returned to the

their speedboat collided with a golden gate ferry. our reporter joins us live from marin general hospital with the latest the have. good morning. >> reporter: good morning. we're told the two victims are still here being treated at marin general. the cause of the crash that frightening and dramatic collision remains under investigation. take a look at the sky7hd video. we were overhead shortly after the crash. it happened around 4:00 yesterday afternoon. the windshield was shatd ordered the speedboat. the front part caved in showing the force of the impact. a small boat against a big ferry. coastguard says the bay was calm as the golden gate ferry was on its way back to the city. a spokesperson says the smaller boat was traveling at a high rate of speed when it hit the ferry. none of the 3500 people were hurt. coastguard and medical choppers responded to the tiburon waterfront where two witnesses told abc7 news what they saw. >> are they are in the water or what happened. we came closer and we saw two people lying there. >> they were doing cpr on one guy and they continued to do cpr and i
